The Big Business Challenge consists of two days of fun, inspiring 'Apprentice-style' challenges. It tests the participants' creativity, entrepreneurism and much much more. Prior business knowledge is not needed, but high levels of motivation and team-work skills are a must.

This year's challenge runs on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th of November, with the awards presentation being on Wednesday evening at 6pm at the Faversham. Even if you don't take part in the challenge, do come along to the awards presentation. All the participants and judges will be there, for your networking skills, as well as free drinks at the bar.

For more information and details of how to apply, visit the challenge website.

Elmete Central Enterprise Project
Written by Philip Graham

Elmete Central is a school for children with behavioural, educational and social difficulties. I've been contacted by a teacher there who is coordinating an enterprise project which sees the pupils organise different events to raise money for local charities. In doing this, the pupils gain valuable interpersonal skills which, while we may take them for granted, due to their personal situations the pupils struggle to develop. The school is looking for a few members of the society who wish to volunteer with this school and help them in their project. For all those that are interested, there is a dinner at Headingley Carnegie Stadium towards the end of October celebrating what they have achieved so far. All those that wish to volunteer are welcome to this event.

Ajaz Ahmed, the founder of Freeserve - formally the UK's largest internet service provider - will be coming in to talk to us about his story from sales assistant in PC world to the multi millionaire owner of one of the UK's fastest growing firms.  He will talk about his role in changing the face of the internet and be sharing his top tips for young entrepreneurs.

The talk will be taking place in the Yorkshire Bank Lecture Theatre in the Business School, on Wednesday 24th February from 5.45pm - 7.00pm.  Refreshments will be provided and there will be plenty of opportunity for questions.  This is a great chance to hear from a prestigious local entrepreneur and get some invaluable advice from an experienced businessman.

See you there!
